    It's hard to tell from the pics, what are the cabs made from? Are the horns the usual flare rate?

    Altec had a name for it, that's been mentioned here by a former employee, but I don't recall what it was. It was basically an OSB type material coated with a grained vinyl, that was supposed to be paintable.

    well 45$ in gas and 4 hrs later these big honking things are in my living room. the cabinets are a little dinged up, but the insides are in great shape. hopefully i have a great home for them.

    Wasn't it Acoustiboard or some silly name?

    Actually early ones were birch plywood. Maybe he'll get lucky.

    yeah, they are some sort of pressed board. and judging from the sound they make when i touch the cone, they might wreck the drywall of a small bar.
    but,, i'm looking forward to GM doing a tutorial on cabinet bracing because the cabinet makes a hollow sound when you thump it. especially the back.

    Yes the spec sheets says plywood, but I'm thinking that I was told they were all the Acoustiboard (or whatever). It's in a thread here on the forum.

    I wouln't think it would need much. They're a lot more solid than an 825/828.
